Stay Asleep, 2016
A solo exhibition at Plug Projects (Kansas City, MO) March 16-May 21, 2016
Stay Asleep combines figures and other objects that imply something about a harshness of reality and the various ways that we deal with it. The objects in the show were chosen in part because they have personal associations with my family upbringing. Importantly, those objects are green-screen green, a color that in its typical context is about what will ultimately be edited out of the final presentation. Similarly, the green objects in Stay Asleep have connections to aspects of myself that are not a part of my publicly shared identity, yet inevitably have informed who I am.
